- I successfully used the Microcom DeskPorte Fast at 28.8 for sync
- connections. Cost is reasonable! Connections cross-country were often
- at 26.4 K.
-
- There are options for autodial, but for my situation simply using an
- analog phone to dial and then using the "Talk/Data" button upon receipt
- of answer tone proved reliable for call setup. One problem I found was
- that the modem would go off hook if DTR transtioned from lo to hi at
- startup or reboot of the DTE device - hopefully they fixed this by now (I
- think I set for ignore DTR as a workaround).
-
- Good luck. By the way you may need a V.35 to RS232 converter depending
- on the connector for your sync DTE device (and set the converter for DTE
- on the RS232 and DCE on the V.35).
